What was something that you loved but were denied as a JW?

i could go on and on about all the things i loved, but i'll keep it brief and just mention one, rather trivial thing: music.

i love grunge and punk, and occasionally heavy metal, and can't listen to a lot of it as a witness..

what religion are you now?

its been a while since ive been on how is everyone doing?

but just curious after you left jehovahs witnesses did you look into other religions?

or are any of you currently involved in any other religions now?.

I like the Thomas Paine works and so take parts of Deism then added bits of Humanism, Ayn Rand and bits of Agnostic thought sometimes even read about Atheism and Erich von Daniken and Zechariah Sitchen.

I know its a bit odd to read and pick different parts of all these philosophies, but each may have pieces of truth, who knows!!

We all used to believe the Bible without question didn't we!

How important are God and Jesus to you?

i ask this question because it goes to:.

- how disposed to objectively considering contrarian evidence you are, and.

- how much i might be messing with your life and happiness by helping you see things the way i do.. i read the posts of many people on this board who are apparently happy, even deliriously happy, with their theism.

Now I've lost my faith in God and the Bible, I do feel slightly envious about all those years when my life was allegedly sorted, I now find myself totally overawed at the information out there and what to believe in, probably time for another beer, or is it only a true madman would think!!!!!!!!!

What would man be without woman

i know from my own experience that i would be a total f**k up, i would have taken the entire family into the borg, after my guilt after leaving this several years ago i am totally grateful to her for the rejection of my previous beliefs, i would have subjected the children to all the self esteem eroding ideas of a few old men in the governing body!.

i think i'm probably now a humanist, with respect for the here and now and trying to cope with the idea that people don't live forever as i see it in my weekend job of working in a nursing home, and feeling utter disgust at the governing bodies ideas at immortality which were totally wrong!.

i think it was robin williams that said if women were in control there would be no wars but intense negotiations every thirty days, lol.

I must admit to reading Zecharia Sitchin, Erich von Daniken, Davis Icke and Immanuel Velikovsky books during the last year and it is because as an ex Jehovah's witnesses we are all prone to conspiracy theories it goes with our shared experience of the ultimate con the Governing Body, we all expected to live forever, and now we find it's not very likely we feel compelled to find something that gives us the same kind of assurance!

However as a small footnote, we don't no everything,lol

I still feel very upset for all those years when my life was sorted, but now I have to think!

i watched all of this guys youtube seminar, and although the reptilian thing was a bit mad, the whole illuminati thing appeared to worthy of a bit more scrutiny, any comments would be welcome, it seemed to be as valid as any biblical point of view!.

The Jehovahs witnesses suck the marrow out of enjoyment of life

i believe that the jw's destroy any enjoyment that you could have out of this life!.

being a youngster that was almost born in, any single part of our life that wasn't part of the gb grand plan for world domination is evil, i still find it problematic to really enjoy wholesome worldly activities, thankfully my wife and kids don't have this!

i believe that i will probably relax into the fact that it is not that the world is bad but the jw's.. i long for the day that this truly destructive religion will end, hopefully the rank and file will become disillusioned and leave when the 100 years are up in 2014 and the tower falls!.
